(RE) CONSTRUCTING NATURE

“(re)Constructing Nature” takes the audience through various perspectives on the meaning of nature in our lives. The musical palette is created by solo percussionist through the use of non-traditional instruments such as flower pots, hoe blades, maracas, amplified cactus, and the traditional African xylophone (gyil). Computer generated visuals with roots in mathematical models of nature gives subtle hints in terms of form, color and motion. Real time rendering of visuals transforms the visual generation process into an instrument, as well as giving it the ability to be affected and manipulated by sound, complementing the performers into creating a piece together. This symbiotic relationship between different media reflects the ever changing relationship between man and the world around them.
